Bangladesh has banned online streaming of the recently released Faraaz directed by Hansal Mehta. According to reports, no announcement has been made yet to ban the film from the theaters as the country's censor board is yet to come to a decision. However, the film will not be streamed online.

On Monday, Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed the order in the Bangladesh High Court. The petition was filed by Ruba Ahmad, mother of Abinta Kabir, who was killed in the 2016 Holy Artisan terror attack, on which the film is based. In her petition, Ruba claimed that the victim was portrayed in a "derogatory manner". She also claimed that law enforcement agencies in Bangladesh were also portrayed in a bad light.

Faraaz features Zahan Kapoor and marks his acting debut. Zahan is the grandson of late actor Shashi Kapoor. Also starring Aditya Rawal.

Talking about the film, Zahan had earlier told, “It was four years for one film, while a two-hour film was shot in 23 days. I couldn't imagine a more fulfilling and rewarding experience to have as my first film. Whatever happens to him (the film) is a bonus. For me, the process of working with people who are as passionate as I am, working with people who want to give their all to bring a story to life, is an experience I couldn't even dream of.”

Aditya also opened up about the film and told, "For me, the biggest challenge was how you as an actor believe what the character says and does because it's far from me, my reality and my world-view."

Faraaz had a limited release on 3 February.
